Wrapping Up the Year

The year...what even...how even...It seems like the year just flies by every time and I’m just left in the dust. Actually, almost every year, I feel like I failed.
That’s one reason why I don’t do resolutions. We resolve to do this thing and then when or if we don’t, we feel like  a failure. I know I do, but if you don’t WHAT IS YOUR SECRET?
I set goals instead, and guess what?
  I accomplished all of them.
I had ten goals for 2016.
  1. Read 50 books
I read 75, a nice compromise between Goodreads and my personal goal.

  1. Write 100k
I wrote wayyyy over this. *nods* I wrote 80k in November alone, plus 76k in April, various projects, and many many many words with my writing buddies.

  1. Finish 2 books
By myself, I wrote two novels. Superheroes and Red King.

  1. Make one new writing buddy
  ‘Ello Hann and Faith

  1. Make one new blogging buddy.
The fabulous Jonathan, Hannah, and Savanna.

  1. Win NaNo
Yup! Ok that sounded wayyy to chipper and happy for NaNo.

  1. Win 3 Camp NaNo’s
Apparently there’s only two...SO I DIDN’T REACH THIS GOAL. THE HORROR.

  1. Beta read 1 book
I beta-ed many many books, and they were all so very fabulous!

  1. Review 5 books
Yup! Check my Goodreads, or my blog, either one. I have some on both.

  1. Drink 100 cups of coffee/tea
Not going to prove my addiction...

I also have awaaards!

  Ray Ray's Blog Choice Awards!

To change it up a bit, we’ll have categories instead of straight up first through third place.

Most Inspirational: Ink Blots and Coffee Stains
Especially during NaNo, I WOULD GO TO THIS BLOG FEELING DOWN AND LEAVE FEELING LIKE A CLOUD. ITS AMAZING. JUST <3 THANK YOU HANNAH.

Most Looked Forwards To: A Writer's Faith

Katie’s posts are so stinkin happy! And informational, but still happy! The pictures, the conversation, just all the yessss.

Most Laughed At: Fishing for Ideas

JONATHAN HAS THIS THING CALLED HYSTERICAL HUMOR. THE GIFS. THE WORDING. JUST YES. I will literally read it and be dying with laughter. It’s fabulous.

  Best New Blog: Paperfury

Cait here is all of us. She posts the best bookish posts, and I just laugh the entire time. She’s soooo stinking funny. AND SHE REPRESENTS ALL OF US WHO HAVE HUGE TBRs.

  Ray Ray’s Book Choice Awards

Most Cried Over: Hands down, A Time to Rise won. There’s one part of this book that every time I talk about it I start crying. THE EMOTIONS. THE DRAMA. THE FEEEELS. WHY. Just wHY. Nadine Brandes, you has done such a fabulous job with this series.

Most Re-Read: This one was a hard one to pick, and I wish that I could give it to the whole series, buuut Half Blood Prince won this one.   Last up, the thank you’s.

     In no particular orderrrr…

Mom: You’ve been the best writing mother ever, real mother too! But with writing, you've done so much, including paying for me to go to my OYAN conference, and allowing me to rant to you about my books. <3

Gogi: You’re such an amazing grandmother, and you take an interest in my hobby profession. When you let me talk about my books, that helps sooo much. <3

Shelby: My real life writing buddy! You’re an inspiration to be as a writer and friend. Thanks for spending NaNo night with me and eating a ton of sugar and coffee. XD We had a fabulous time.

Sierra: Gah! This month was the first year anniversary of us being writing buddies, and I wouldn't’ have it any other way! You’re so encouraging, and the stories we’re writing together are so amazing! <3

Hannah: Gurl, Sierra and I literally dropped you in the deep end of writing with people. BUT OUR CHARACTERS ARE FABULOUS! You’re so amazing and you inspire us allll. <3

Mary: My sassy, stabby ninja assassin drug lord wingman. Although we kill people, I have fun, and our conversations are glorious. Thanks for helping me torture my brother and letting me advise you about yours. XD

Hann: Thank you for letting Emma and me adopt you as our cousin! You’re such a fabulous human being, and your critiques on RK are just <3 along with your fangirling.

Emma: THE BESTEST COUSIN IN THE WORLD. Thank you for calling at night and hissing at me for twenty minutes about Red King. YOU’RE THE BEEEST. I LURVES YOU COUSIN.

Logan and Will: You guys deserve a box for putting up with me. Even though you don’t believe that I’m an assassin, we shall change that.

Just...guys, this year has been amazing. I can’t even begin to describe it. Some people are complaining that it was a bad year, but for me, it was a reallly good year! I met amazing people, I grew, I matured, it was a reeeealllllyyyy goood year.
  Thank you all. <3

Wrap it Up~November

So you may have noticed the sudden stop of posts from me...
   Oops.
   NaNoWriMo for the world.
So basically I wrote over 80k in a month, and then I died. But technically that doesn't include allll of the words I did, just the ones I counted. *nods* Here's some things that I learned in November due to writing.

   1. Always stay focused

I was definitely distracted after day...2. *sighs* And it wasn't even over anything in particular until a few days later, I just didn't want to write. Now I can write pretty fast, around 450-500 words in ten minutes, and higher if I'm mega-focused.
I would write 200 in ten minutes.
That's a realllly good amount of words, don't get me wrong, but I know that's only partially focused for me. I needed to just write. And it wasn't helping that I winged it instead of plotting...
So just write. Stay focused. You've got this.

   2. Have a list

I should have had a list of plot things that I wanted, such as (hypothetical)
  •    talk about dragons
  • use Jessica's blindness to it's full extent
  • Mention Juck's dying phone a lot
But I didn't, so Catus's insanity isn't as epic as I wanted, the dreams weren't as prominent, although I think that's because I need time to write the dreams. This isn't a huge problem, because I plan on editing this book, but it would have helped.

    3. Don't write anything else

Ok, so I'll admit, some days I couldn't even think Red King, so I wrote something else. It helped me to where I could, but I was behind.
    Majorly...behind.
And I wanted to write 100k, but I ended up with around 70k in Red King, a short story, and a scene from another book. After I finished Red King, I was ok with doing the short story, but not before.

   4. Don't set a goal.

I knew I wanted it to be 100k, but I shouldn't have set a goal and instead just written until my story was done. Katie Grace did this and she did a fabulous job with NaNo. (Go read her NaNoWriMo Weekly's, they're so fabulous!) Hannah also did this, and she also woooon! (Yes, this is the Hannah who's book is epic and similar to mine and simply amazing and her blog is fabulous and encouraging here)

   5. Never say an idea is stupid

Here's a screenshot of a convo by the amazing Sierra and I at seven o'clock last night.

By the end of the night I was bawling because the emotion this charrie gave meeeee *flaps hands and runs around* THIS STORY So basic rundown, it started as a flash fiction, but haha nope not anymore. This girl is part of a ninja organization where you never see your face or anyone elses, ever, and you almost never speak. Alessia breaks into a place and steals something, gets caught, is being questioned by this guy who's wearing a ninja mask, and he wants her to take hers off.
    I mean...she doesn't want to die...
But she ends up seeing his face and letting him see hers.
First time she's ever seen a human's face.
GUYSSSS SHE WAS SO EMOTIONAL AT THAT POINT!
   *shoves you snippet*

Ok so for a wrap up, I have a list of people who I need to thank for this NaNo.

Mom- For letting me hide away and write like a maniac and putting up with my mood swings.
Sierra- For being an amazing encouraging buddy all month.
Hannah- For reading Red King while I wrote and sobbing and yelling and of course warring with me.
Hann- For reading and commenting on Red King during the month, also word wars.
Shelby- For spending the first night of NaNo with me and writing like a crazy person.
Faith- Lots of word wars and an amazing comment on the Short Story.
Hannah W.- For the posts she did, these were soooo helpful all month.
And just about all my other writing buddies for being epic and just existing.

Thank you so much for reading!
   Rachael
Have you finished NaNo yet? How're you doing with your word count? Do you have a favorite snippet you wrote?
Alsoooo last thing, I'm actually letting people read the Short Story I did for NaNo, a futuristic one, so message me through my blog and I'll send you the Word Document for it, or invite you to the Google Doc. And I have a deal with Hannah R. that if ten people asked, I'd write a novel about it. *nods* Before January though...So head over to the WIP page and I'm working on getting the info up there.

NaNoWriMo Week #1+Snippets

So we have begun the month of insane deadness! It's actually epic to be able to chat with the friends that I haven't talked to in a looong time. Word Warring has begun, and I've eaten a gargantuan amount of chocolate and ice cream and coffee.
So for April's camp, I did a day by day thing, and I'll be doing the same thing here. So enjoy!

   Day #1 No sleep+4782 words

The fabulous Shelby spent the night with me, and we ate...a ton of chocolate and ice cream and coffee. Correction, I  ate the most, and then we stayed up until midnight. I warred until about one o'clock because #lightweight. I got around eight hundred words though!

We woke up at eight, started writing about nine, and I hit my daily word count at around oneish. I had a little more to go, just as a general principle, but we took a break to watch Thor The Dark World. Later I warred with some buddies and got to the fabulous, satisfying number up there.
 And yas, snippet!
   *dies* MY SWEET EMMY ANGEL!

   Day #2 Doin great+6413

BWAH HA HA I IS ON A ROLLLL! YAS! Top word count for this week! Also I hid from life itself and warrrred! I'm...not sure I did much else that day, but I've started staying up late to write! Usually...*coughs* Ten or ten thirty...but it's late for me!
I killed a ton of people this day. *nods seriously* Fourteen.

*coughs* Yeah...this charrie isn't happy with me. You get two snippets from her and in both she's hurt. *hugs her*

   Day #3 Wut R Wurds+3500

See, it looks like I still did ok, and I did! But...I wrote most of this late that night, I did not want to write at all. It's. So. Hard. Wut. R. Wurds.
Oh, hello words, you were actually there? Just waiting to smack me in the face? Thank you, I appreciate that.

   Annnd here's Catus. *nods* He's a psycho...

   Day #4 Oops+3067

*hides* In my defense...I had a ton of OYAN lessons to do...SO I DID GOOD YAS? NO? WELL...STILL I DID GOOD AND ONLY SLIGHTLY BELOW MY WORDCOUNT! And yas, I know I'm a coffee addict, but this didn't hellllp.
Emmmy again and her amazing guy Garritt who she just met, but still. *shrugs* They're funny.

   Day #5 wu r wuds

    I. Am. Dead. I didn't do last years school...like I should have, so I'm still revising stuffs and ended up crying and going and getting coffee ground to inhale like a psycho. #addictproblems
BUT I GOT...SOME WORDS DONE! SOME!

See? See? I got some depth! I apparently knew...some of the words here.

   Day #6 Oh glorious break+2

Ok, so I take a break on Sundays, but I do write a single word so I can update my NaNo every day and get that badge that won't matter next year...*coughs*
And here's a snippet. If you've liked them so far, great! If not, ignore this. xD

*sniffles* Catus+Leela=Leetus=OTP SERIOUSLY THEY'RE THE MSOT ADORABLE AND THEY LIKE *SHRIEKS FOREVER* BEST HUSBAND/WIFE DUO EVER.

   Day #7 Oops again+ 2828

So...I may be behind...and I may need around seven thousand words today...Oops. Haha...haha...ha...ha...Ok I promise I'll do a sprint, but school took a long time and then I wrote at night but the computers were A) taken and B) not working so I didn't get many in until nine thirty.
So basically I just flopped and moped until I got this many words, and then realized that I had to delete some...*sobs*

*dies* I WAS ALMOST MAD AT EMMY BUT NOT QUITE.

So this is week one! Thanks for reading!
   Rachael
How has your first week of NaNo/November been? Are you still going strong? And because I have to ask, what was your favorite quote? Do you have a favorite quote that you wrote?

Wrap It Up~October

Ok...OCTOBER IS OVER NOVEMBER IS HERE I JUST DID THIS I JUST DID THIS LAST YEAR WHAT IN THE WORLD WHY IS IT NOVEMBER ALREADY?
How's that for an intro? xD

OK I HAS LIFE STUFF TO TALK ABOUT NOW! WE DID LOTS OF EXCITING THINGSSS!

Ok, first up, Youth Camping Trip.

Freezing cold nights, amazing meals, and a lot of just chilling with friends. Between one of my friends doing card tricks and making fun of how short I am, another friend getting "swaddled" in my fuzzy blanket, another friend getting me to take his picture fabulously, I had an amazing time! Plus   we had church in the pavilion, and bro brought his guitar so we could sing, so that was incredible.

Also my fabulous aunt got me a Harry Potter house shirt! (Yes it's backwards, but it says Gryffindor.) And then when I went to get shoes at the same store, I found they had an entire DISPLAY OF             HARRY POTTER SHIRTS YOU KNOW HOW TEMPTING DAT IS? *sobs*

BUT LOOK! I went to a masquerade ball with a lot of friends! I actually made my own mask, as seen below! We had a ton of fun. And I daaaanced with was amazing! Like danced so now I can write         about it! Research, right? xD So this was a major peopling event, and I did it! I did a thing!

Next up our church picnic! I cooooked a pie! Or baked it...It was chocolate mousse and chocolate shavings, and I won third! I also ate three pieces...*coughs* Pre NaNo stress...But anywho, it was fun
making it and blasting music through the kitchen while my mom tried to shout instructions at me.
Next up our church picnic! I cooooked a pie! Or baked it...It was chocolate mousse and chocolate shavings, and I won third! I also ate three pieces...*coughs* Pre NaNo stress...But anywho, it was fun making it and blasting music through the kitchen while my mom tried to shout instructions at me.

We also hung out and played in the bouncy house like the children at hearts we are. Jumping over the slide, dragging each other off of the slide, taking pictures on the slide, the slide was epic! Also planning YouTube videos out on the sidewalk. *nods* Dats when we took this.

Top books I read this month: I read...two that I can remember off of the top of my head. The Golden Braid  and A Torch Against the Night. The Golden Braid was really annoying, to be honest. I don't like Melanie Dickerson at all, I think. The fact that all of her girls are gorgeous and everyone loves them...that just drives me insane. AND ATAtN WAS FABULOUS! The language wasn't cool, and I was unhappy with two people who slept with each other, but other than that...*dies* HELENE HAD A POV SHE HAD A POV! I was soooo excited!

Prepping for NaNo...and by prepping I mean doing absolutely nothing but gathering random inspiration and writing it down and looking like a dingbat at social events. *nods* So yes. That. NaNo is coming and I shall be writing a book! Another one! Equaling my eight draft alone and thirteenth with someone else.
I was actually super inspired to edit Superheroes, so as soon as I finish NaNo, I'll start second drafting that. Editing is fun for the first few chapters...*coughs loudly* and then the fun magically  gets chucked out of a window. How does this happen.
Also I may or may not have frozen at editing Iris...*coughs again and hides face* I really need to work on that one and post the next part. Editing is so haaaaard though! *moans to you about editing.
That's pretty much it, and despite my attempts, some of the paragraphing is weird in this post, so I sincerely apologize. *bows ninja like*
Rachael Steele
Are you doing NaNo? How do you prep for NaNo? What was the most exciting thing you did this October?

The Soundtrack Behind Red King

I am a horrible narwhal. Shame me. I am so underprepared for NaNo that I only just now thought of doing my October posts on my story...*headdesks* SO YOU GUYS GET THREE OUT OF FOUR POSTS ABOUT RED KING!

So the first group of songs I have for you are the songs for Catus.

*bows* I have conveniently made a series of playlists for the story so you can listen to them.

Some of my favorites are Monster by Imagine Dragons, Mansion by NF, Goner and Heathens by Twenty One Pilots, Can You Hear Me by Flurie, AHH SO MANY GOOD ONES Unsteady by X Ambassadors. AHHH THESE SONGS GUYS AHHHH I'll choose...two and go over why they're Catus' songs.

   Mansion: NF
My mind is a home I'm trapped in
And it's lonely inside this mansion

DHSDIOWEKSNJKDS OK First up Catus is insane. Traumatic events have driven him to the edge and his mind is basically a bowl of mixed pasta noodles and most of them are moldy. *nods* So he feels like his mind is this huge mansion with so many rooms of hurt and pain he wants to shut them all and burn them.

Wish I could take a match and burn this whole room to the ground
Matter of fact I think Ima burn this room right now

I've actually planned this whole scene out, well, many scenes, but...Ok, if you've seen the BBC Sherlock, you know how he wanders his mind palace? That's how this is pretty much, and when Emmy starts getting into his head, she's just running around this mansion and he's like trying to keep her out of these rooms but she's running from her own scary things that are also in there because she is so she's like trying to get in a room and block it out.

   Heathens: Twenty One Pilots
All my friends are heathens, take it slow
Wait for them to ask you who you know
Please don't make any sudden moves
You don't know the half of the abuse

ACK! THIS FIRST LINE IS JUST...OAIWIYSIEHLHLSD

You're lovin' on the psychopath sitting next to you
You're lovin' on the murderer sitting next to you
You'll think, how'd I get here, sitting next to you?
But after all I've said, please don't forget

Ok, so when I first heard this song, I thought it was "You'll never know the psychopath sitting next to you" BUT IT STILL FITS! He and Leela are this unsuspecting pair of psychopaths and crazy people, you have to already know that. *bawls*

We don't deal with outsiders very well
They say newcomers have a certain smell
Yeah, I trust issues, not to mention
They say they can smell your intentions

THIS ONE GUYS! Catus literally trusts no one but Leela and his son, like no one. AND HIS TRUST ISSUES ARE SO DEEP HE WILL LITERALLY AVOID HUMANS CEPTING HIS FAMILY FOR DAYYYYYS!!!

Ok so the next group of songs is the songs for Leetus, one of my three OTPs.

ACKACKACK OK THEEESE SONGSSS! Little Do You Know by Alex and Sierra, Wherever You Will Go by Andi & Alex and Chance Pena (this is a recording from The Voice and JUST LISTEN TO ITTT), Inside Out by the Chainsmokers and Charlee, Can You Hold Me by NF and Britt Nicole, Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men, Falling by the Civil Wars.
OK HOW DO I CHOOOOOOOSE! *moans and makes floppy narwhale noises*

Can You Hold Me: NF and Britt Nicole
HAHA I lied here's the song and lyrics, it would take so long to go through it...and I know it was probably talking to God not a person, but this is how Catus and Leela are. *nods*

   Little Talks:
I don't like walking around this old and empty house
So hold my hand, I'll walk with you my dear

I like this line because it's Leela talking to Catus and she's talking about his mind. The thing I explained above with the mansion, that's this. When he's having a nightmare, she'll help him through it, but when he goes into this state of basically madness, she's legitimately scared.

   Don't listen to a word I say
The screams all sound the same

This is pretty self explanatory, with the nightmares and all...

   Last song: Falling
Haven't you seen me sleepwalking 'cause I've been holding your hand
Haven't you noticed me drifting
Oh
Let me tell you I am

Ahhhhhhh ok thissssss songgg...JUST LIKE AHHHH ITS SO AMAZING AND LEETUS AND I'M JUST GOING TO PASTE SOME LYRICS HERE:

Tell me it's nothing
Try to convince me that I'm not drowning
Oh
Let me tell you I am
Please
Please tell me you know
I've got to let you go
I can't help falling out of love with you

AHHHHHHHHHHH!!! *FLOPS AND ROLLS OVER DEAD*

Last group of songs are for Emmy.
Fire N' Gold by Bea Miller, Through Heavens Eyes from the Prince of Egypt, A Quiet Darkness by Houses, Thief and Dream by Imagine Dragons, Oh Lord by NF.

   Fire N' Gold: Bea Miller
   Baby, we were born with
Fire and gold in our eyes, eyes
With fire and gold in our eyes, eyes
   Got lightning in a bottle
   Hands on the throttle
Even in the dust we shine
With fire and gold in our eyes

This song is Emmy's song because she truly believes she has a spark and fire and she can help people, but everyone, Catus included, tells her she was a mistake because she's a Dreamer.

   Dream: Imagine Dragons
We all are living in a dream,
But life ain’t what it seems
   Oh everything’s a mess
And all these sorrows I have seen
   They lead me to believe
   That everything’s a mess

This is suuuch Emmy's song because of the whole dream thing, and how reality seems unstable and how it's so bad and ASJDSLUISDIUWE!

*coughs because she only has two songs...*
Anywho, I hope this will give you some insight to the characters, and follow me on Spotify for the playlists for these guys! Also, I shall reply to your comments on Monday, as I will be gone this weekend.
   Rachael

Have you heard of any of these songs? Did you listen to any just now? What kind of music do you NaNo too?

Beautiful Books

So before NaNo, I'm going to participate in Beautiful Books, hosted by Paperfury and Further Up Further In. This will be ten questions that I will answer about my story Red King. *takes deep breath* Kay, let's begin.

   1. What inspired the idea for your novel, and how long have you had the idea? Well, I read the Lunar Chronical series, and that partially inspired me to do a fairy tale retelling of Beauty and the Beast, Little Red Ridinghood, and Snow White. After a lot lot lot of changes, I cut out all the...fairy tale stuff...*headdesks* So now it's just about Catus. But then, as I said in this post, I combined Red King with Fire N' Gold and included Emmy. I've had the idea for a monthish, maybe a little over?

   2. Describe what your novel is about! So it's about Catus, who had a horrible childhood where he ended up running away from his dad, the King of Shaelin, until he turned eighteen. He has horrible nightmares at night, it's pretty bad. But he married this girl (adorable sad story) who also has nightmares, so he thinks, "Man, I should find a Dreamer (someone who manipulates dreams). Too bad Dad made Dreamer's illegal and they're all hunted. Nope, I'm finding one."
Switch to Emmy. She'd just a Dreamer who lives on the streets with her brother. When her brother gets sick, she takes a job manipulating a rich woman's dream, but SURPRISE trap, and she gets carted off to the palace to manipulates Catus and Leela's dreams.
    3. What is your book's aesthetic? Use words or photos or whatever you like! I love these things, they're on the board.

   4. Introduce us to each of your characters!
So we have Catus and Emmy, the POV charries, then Leela, Catus' wife, and Bella, a prisoner at the palace.

Catus is this really...evil king. He's the villain, and I loooove writing from the point of view of the villains, so *grins* Anywho, he's almost two personalities. He has the Catus Leela and Marcus (his son) knows, and then the one Emmy knows, the psycho wacko evil Catus. He's in his early twenties.

Emmy is super quiet, but when people make her mad, she can be this snappish turtle. She has an adopted brother named Val, and she manipulates dreams.

Leela is the sweetest little bubble! She was locked in Catus' dad's dungeon at four and spent thirteen years there. Catus' dad dies, Catus comes and hears her having like these nightmares one night and she's like crying hysterically and there are a few guards and so he follows them and just falls in love with this insane girl because he's insane too. He helps her, they marry, have Marcus, end of the first part and skip ahead to a yearish later.

   5. How do you prepare to write? (Outline, research, stocking up on chocolate, howling, etc.?) I outline, research, drink coffee, squeal to friends, and usually flop. It's a very effective method. xD Meaning I start out motivated, slip out of it, then rush the last week to finish and usually end up dying. BUT THIS WILL BE WORSE BECAUSE I AM PANTSING THIS NANO AHHH!

   6. What are you most looking forward to about this novel? THE CHARACTERS! AND THE DREAMS! THE DREAMSCAPES ARE GOING TO BE FABULOUS AND AMAZING!!!

   7. List 2 things about your novel's settings! Dark and depressing. Evil. Does that count? The whole kingdom's pretty much a dark depressing evil spot...

   8. What’s your character’s goal and who (or what) stands in the way? She wants to be a normal person and just live with her bro, but she's a Dreamer, so she's pretty much dead already...

   9. How does your protagonist change by the end of the novel? I know, I know, I have to think this through...

   10. What are your book’s themes? How do you want readers to feel when the story is over? Probably that no one's an "accident", because that's one of the things Catus tells Emmy over and over, that because she's a Dreamer, she's a "mistake".  How do I want them to feel...Ok, I can't tell you this because spoilers...

Thank you so much for reading! I hope this wasn't just me flopping about how much I don't know. xD

When the Downs Come

Everyone's hit a writing slump, and if you haven't yet, you will. It's not a discouragement, it's the truth. No one feels like their a good writer all of the time, and if you do, TELL ME YOUR SECRET! I've been in a slump for a few days, so I thought I'd write this post.

So I had peopled all day on Saturday, and I came home and talked to Sierra and Hannah for a minute, and I looked at my stories, including the one for NaNo, and...I hated them. I didn't just think they were boring, I hated them. The only one I didn't hate was the one I was doing for OYAN.
These stories were boring. The characters were boring. No one would ever want to read them. Why couldn't I write stories like the ones Hannah, Sierra, and I write? Our characters interact so well, why can't mine?
I ended up telling them I was going to trash all of them. Of course they reacted as any amazing writing buddies would:

Sierra: RACHAEL NO DON'T TRASH THE STORIES
Hannah: PUT THEM ON A SHELF DON'T TRASH THEM
   Sierra: NOOO
   Hannah: NOOOOO
Sierra: IT'S TEN O'CLOCK AND YOU'VE PEOPLE TODAY, DON'T MAKE DESCITIONS!"

Somehow they convinced me not to trash the stories that night, and the morning!!!!

   I was sick.
So I stayed home from church, listened to a sermon and worship music, and plotted. I mixed two stories, Fire N' Gold and Red King together, which worked out beautifully because Catus from Red King has horrible nightmares and is insane, and Emmy from Fire N' Gold manipulates dreams and then her own mess up and she starts going crazy too.
I was able to love a few of them and not trash them, but tragically, some are gone. Hazard, Renegade, all of the Flicker sequels. *sniffs* But the good news is, I have what I'm going to do for NaNo now.
It was going to be the second book in my Superheroes series (don't ask why the first, third, and fourth are written...), but then I decided to do my other two.
I am here to tell you something:
   You are a good writer.
We might not always feel like it, but that's normal. Thank goodness my fabulous friends kept me from trashing my stories, because I would have regretted that deeply.
We're all going to feel like a bad writer sometimes, I was just unlucky in feeling that way right before NaNo. There are many posts I could point you to if you still feel like this, but one I loved was Hannah's post.
Thank you so much for reading!

Wrap it Up~September

  (PIC)
So it's the last day of September, and I know this is on a Saturday, but I forgot wanted to space the posts out since I did one for A Time to Rise. xD So without further ado, here's the wrap up!

Life was school, basically. *nods* And writing. But mostly school. I did...*is sitting here wondering what I did...* Ok so clearly I either need coffee or a life.
OH I GOT IT I GOT IT! Our fabulous cousins came down to visit us, and we had an amazing time downtown! We ate great pizza, and fought over who was taller. *coughs bc Josh is* *scowls*

Inspiration was reaped from that...and I'm so sorry, but that's all I have for the life area. I was boring. I know.

So...I read All the Light We Cannot See...for a reason which I will discuss below... But I LOVED IT OH MY GOSH!!! READ MY REVIEW HERE (a pitiful excuse for a review, I know) AND READ DA BOOOOOK!
I also read A TIME TO RISE OH MY GOSH I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH! THIS HAS A REVIEW I'M PROUD OF, BUT JUST GO READ MY POST! IT WAS FABULOUS!
I have a ton of books to read, but I didn't actually...mostly just non-fiction research.
OK I AM SO SORRY BUT I'M ABOUT TO DIE AND BURST IF I DON'T MOVE ON TO WRITING FOR TWO REASONS!
OK OK OK SO as you know, the amazing Hannah and Sierra and I are writing a fantasy....*were WE FINISH IT WE FINISHED ASHES BURN GUYS I CRIED SO HARD ITS AMAZING and full of typos BUT STILL AMAZING AHHHH I LOVES THESE GUYS SO MUCH THEY ARE AMAZING WRITING BUDDIES! AND GUESS WHAT? I AM HERE WITH THE FIRST SCENE FROM ASHES BURN!

Hazel slipped into the office, pulling her mask up around her mouth. She slid her previous book onto the shelf and ran her hands over the others. Her fingers closed around one and she smiled the slightest bit.
“Hey,” a male voice said from the doorway. “What are you doing in here?”
She froze, her breath steaming in the cloth. Slowly she let go of the book and took a deep breath, not answering.
There was the sound of someone stepping closer and the voice, sounding frustrated, spoke again. “I said, what are you doing?” he demanded.
Hazel’s eyes flicked to the window in response. She stepped towards it, avoiding the boy’s gaze.
The boy frowned and lunged forwards, catching hold of her wrist.
She pulled against him, straining to get to the window. No no no, this can’t happen! Her hand shot to her knife, but she immediately let it go. You can’t attack the King.
The boy blocked the way to the window with his body, maintaining a firm grip on Hazel’s wrist. “Answer my question or I’ll call the guards!” he ordered.
She reached up to make sure her scarf was still covering her face and coughed. “I was just getting something.” she said in a low voice.
The boy jerked her wrist, tugging her towards the door. “Not a good answer. This is the Ki- my study. You need approval to even be in here.” He told her.
“My mother gave me approval.” she answered, trying to pull his hand off of her wrist. “You haven’t noticed until now.”
“Who is your mother?” he demanded.
“Kayley Karmadea.” she answered, glancing out of the window. “I was just getting a book, ok?”
He let go of her wrist as if it were covered in acid and took a couple steps away from her, still blocking her path to the window. “Your mother is Kayley Karmadea?”
“Yes, of course.” She still avoided his gaze and rubbed her wrist, glancing at the door. “Look, if it helps, my mother knew your mother and father, so…” she shrugged. “I don’t know.”
His jaw clenched. “Your mother killed my father. It doesn't help. Kayley Karmadea was a traitor, and her approving you to be in here is worthless. Get out of my study, or I'll call the guards.”
“Precisely my goal in the first place.” she ran to the window and ducked out, then back in. “To be fair though, your father did cut her face up, then take over her country, then enslave her, so…” she shrugged. “You disapproving me from this study is worthless to me too.”
   “Michael!” the boy shouted. “Jacob!”
The girl jumped from the window to the branch outside, but the edge of her scarf caught on the window and she pulled it off, dropping to the ground below.
The two guards outside ran in, their hands on their swords. “Sir, is everything alright?” Michael asked, looking around.
Ash crossed the room to the window, tugging the scarf free and holding it in his hands for a moment.    “I want the branch outside this window cut,” He told them, turning back around. “Anyone could climb up the tree out there, across the branch, and get in here without alerting the guards, if they were quick enough.”
“Yes sir…” Michael nodded slowly. “Is everything alright? Besides the...branch?”
Ash hesitated a moment. “I want whatever information you have on the woman who… who killed my father.”
Michael narrowed his eyes, but nodded and walked over to the shelf against the wall. “We have a file on her.” he said, pulling one out.
Ash nodded and took it. “Thanks. That will be all.”
Michael nodded and the two guards left the room, leaving Ash alone.

AHHHHHH I LOVES IT!!! I LOVES IT SO MUCH! Tell me what you think!

Also...research books...WE STARTED A WORLD WAR II BOOK!!! A RETELLING OF IT, SO IT'S NOT HISTORICAL, BUT VERY VERY CLOSE. *shriekles* I'll just tell you a tiny bit about it.
So the main character is this girl from Brundhilm (ally group), Liza, who is a spy, and she agrees to go spy in this Reich (German) city. She ends up befriending these two (Hitler Youth, we haven't renamed it yet) and they're so sweet and *flops* but she's a spy, so every time she has to use them for info, it hurts because she actually likes them. So the book is about her in this Reich city, spying.
THIS BOOK IS HEARTBREAKING BECAUSE OF THE TWO HITLER YOUTH BOYS! Stefan is more serious then Will, and he's so sweet and kind. The Hitler Youth boys hung out in the square a lot of times, and Liza came up with this reason to go with Stefan so that she could listen for anything helpful to the Brundhilm army. And Stefan is so adorable and just *screams* he makes sure the boys like don't mess with her and it's just adorableeee! #Stezaforever
Will on the other hand knows what's up...ish. Liza's really sweet and nice to Stefan, her real personality, but to Will, she's this sarcastic, reckless, dishonest girl. She gets multiple warning from him for breaking the law, cheats off of his tests, and lies totally straight faced. Honestly...I'm not sure why he's friends with her...
*coughs* Enough about the stories...*could go on and on* *especially about Stefan* *who's last name is Engel which means "angel" in German* *and he has a puppy* *and I totally ship him and Liza* *coughs again and really does move on*

Thank you so much for reading this!
